Kiyomi Tanaka

Kiyomi Tanaka is a co-founder of Artful Networks and a seasoned artist with a deep passion for exploring the intersection of traditional Japanese arts and crafts with modern technology. Her background includes extensive training in calligraphy, origami, and kintsugi, along with a keen interest in how artificial intelligence can enhance and transform these ancient practices. Kiyomi is also an avid programmer, specializing in creative coding and generative art. She brings a unique perspective to the blog, bridging the gap between the tactile world of handcrafted art and the abstract realm of neural networks. She believes that AI can be a powerful tool for artists, augmenting their creativity and opening up new possibilities for artistic expression. Kiyomi is responsible for curating many of the blog's art projects, tutorials, and hands-on workshops. Her goal is to inspire others to embrace the creative potential of AI and to discover new ways to blend technology with traditional art forms.

Kiyomi holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Tokyo University of the Arts and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Tokyo. Her research focuses on the application of neural networks to the creation of digital art and the preservation of cultural heritage. She regularly presents her work at international conferences and art exhibitions, advocating for the ethical and responsible use of AI in the arts.

Aiko Nakamura

Aiko Nakamura is the other co-founder of Artful Networks and an experienced AI researcher with a lifelong fascination for traditional Japanese crafts. Her expertise lies in the development and application of neural networks for artistic purposes. Aiko holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Kyoto University, where she specialized in generative adversarial networks (GANs) and their use in creating realistic images and videos. She is particularly interested in how AI can be used to mimic the artistic styles of master craftsmen and to generate new and innovative designs.

Aiko is responsible for the technical aspects of the blog, including the development of AI models, the analysis of algorithms, and the creation of interactive demonstrations. She also writes extensively about the latest advancements in neural networks and their applications in the art world. Her aim is to make complex AI concepts accessible to a wider audience, empowering artists and enthusiasts to explore the creative potential of machine learning. Aiko believes that AI can be a powerful tool for unlocking new forms of artistic expression and for pushing the boundaries of what is possible. She is committed to promoting the responsible and ethical use of AI in the arts and to ensuring that these technologies are used to enhance, rather than replace, human creativity.

Beyond her research, Aiko is a passionate practitioner of shodo (Japanese calligraphy) and enjoys incorporating AI-generated elements into her artistic creations. She believes that the combination of traditional skills and modern technology can lead to truly groundbreaking artistic innovations.
